“Thank you to the Board of Trustees for their strong advocacy on behalf of students and families,” said Mark Fisher, Director of Education for Thames Valley District School Board, “I also want to commend our staff who are hard at work with community partners to address rising enrolment pressures. As one of the fastest growing school boards in Ontario, Thames Valley will benefit greatly from the Ministry’s approval of funding for these two schools and child care centres.”

“The Thames Valley District School Board is thrilled about Minister Lecce’s announcement of funding for two much-needed new schools and child care centres for west and southeast London,” said school board Chair, Beth Mai, “We appreciate everything the Ministry has done to streamline the capital funding approval process, so that the Board and our municipal and community partners can best serve the needs of London’s rapidly growing population. Today is an example of what’s possible when everyone comes together with the common goal of addressing the greatest needs of families. Thames Valley remains committed to providing quality education for all students and looks forward to the benefits these projects will bring to the district.”

“Our government is more than doubling the funding to build new schools, which represents the single largest investment in school building in Ontario history,” said Minister Lecce. “We are stepping up with a massive investment to build the homes, schools, and communities our province needs, and to ensure children have access to state-of-the-art schools close to home that give them real life and job skills to succeed in the future. I want to reiterate my thanks to MPP Rob Flack for his relentless advocacy for local families.”

“This investment from the Government of Ontario of $55.3 million for a new West London Public School and a new Southeast London Elementary School will have such a positive and long-term impact on families in this region,” said Rob Flack, MPP for Elgin-Middlesex-London. “We are building a better Ontario for families and a better future for children with these new and modern schools.”

“We are pleased to welcome the construction of two new schools by the Thames Valley District School Board that will include 176 new infant, toddler and preschool child care spaces in London, and we are proud to collaborate with the Board in this exciting endeavor,” said Shirley Glover, Director of Child Care and Early Years for the City of London. “We commend the Thames Valley District School Board, the Ministry of Education, and all project partners for a collaborative effort in bringing these important projects to life. These projects reflect the City’s commitment to growing the number of licensed child care spaces to support families. As these projects take shape, we look forward to the positive impact they will have on increasing access to licensed child care and the benefits this care will provide to future generations.”
